Floor Lamp by Poul Henningsen 'PH80', Danish Design
The PH 80 floor and table were put into production after Poul Henningsen's death, as a celebration of what would have been his 80th birthday had he lived. The PH 80 fixtures were made of opal acrylics, instead of glass, with the intention of making a less expensive product with the same lighting characteristics as a glass fixture.

Being a man of the future, Poul Henningsen had been working with plastic materials as the new material for his fixtures shortly before his death. However, since he died in 1967, the quality of plastic materials at that time was not satisfactory. It was not until the mid-1970s that the plastic materials and work processes had developed to such a level that the shades could be made smooth, thus achieving the right quality.

This lamp is in good original vintage condition with the original drawstring.

'Kongelys'/ King light (T3) by Niels Rasmussen Thykier (Denmark)
Niels Rasmussen Thykier (1883-1978), a Danish sculptor and painter, created the famous T3 of his Kongelys table lamp series in 1929.

Thyker made his first lamp in 1928 as a gift for his father in law. Encouraged to make more lamps, he started his own small company. Due to a number of setbacks caused by the war, his company eventually teamed up with Fog & Mørup that started producing the Kongelys lights in 1938. Their very first copy of the T3 was donated to King Christian X of Denmark, in honor of his governmental jubilee.

The iconic shade underwent a transformation from oil-impregnated paper to transparent acrylic. This is one of the old authentic shades which has some age related wear. The Kongelys T3 is a timeless design that has pleased for decades and still does.
